#chats - We see the hashtags marked with a pound sign (#) on Twitter every day. A hashtag allows a word or phrase like #edtech to be categorized for a search. If educators attend a conference they can follow tweets about the conference with its hashtag (i.e., #mhtt17). If a group of educators agree to go on Twitter at a specified time using a common hashtag like #edtechafterdark, they can participate in a group twitter conversation (edchat) on topics of mutual interest. Below are some Twitter chats moderated by digital school administrators.

#WVEDCHAT Bi-weekly, Tuesday 8PM EST
We have 5-6 regular moderators which is very helpful. I always wingman and greet folks as they come to the chat. I recently started writing and mailing handwritten cards to newcomers to the chat. I ordered cards from VistaPrint and placed a logo on the front with a blank side on the back. I'll send some pics. I've got great feedback about those. I send the cards to the person's school knowing they'll show off the card to other educators there. That I'm aware, there are 3 counties in our state that offer educators PD credit for participating in the chat.
